On the Issues/Priorities
Resiliency
The City and our environmental partners should leverage the funding opportunities at the GLO and other federal and state programs to develop and fund projects that protect land, dunes, and shorelines, as well as land acquisitions, flood risk reduction, and community infrastructure that enhance resiliency in Galveston.
Comprehensive Plan
The last Comprehensive Plan was developed in October of 2011. I think we can all agree that the island has changed a great deal since then. Private groups like Vision Galveston have stepped in to help provide insight to the current condition of the community, and provided a guideline for the City to consider.
Short-Term Rental Management
There must be a balance between the quality of life of our residents, private property rights, and the economic benefit of STRs.
Coordinated Fiscal Investment
As citizens, we should strive to have our representative government be as efficient and effective as possible.
Workforce Housing
Part of a vibrant community is having a diverse stock of housing available across a broad range of income levels.
